Re: UPSC CMS Rules

UPSC directs Combined Medical Services Examination every year to recruit medical graduates into a variety of Central Government Organisations and Services.

CMS Exam is directed in accordance with Rules published byMinistry of Health & Family Welfare in the Gazette of India.

UPSC conducts a CMS Exam for recruitment to the following posts

(i) Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in Indian Ordnance Factories Health Service.

(ii) Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in the Railways.

(iii) Junior Scale Posts in Central Health Services.

(iv) Medical Officers in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

(v) General Duty Medical Officer in New Delhi Municipal Council

Eligibility :

Age Limit: The age limit for candidates is 32 years as on January, 01 of the year of admission.

Educational Qualification:-

a) Applicants must have hold a MBBS degree from an MCI recognized university in India.

b) Candidates appearing for final year MBBS exam are also eligible to apply.

c) candidates yet to complete compulsory rotating internship is eligible for admission

Exam Pattern:


The written exam has two papers, each paper carrying a maximum of 250 marks.

Each paper will be of two hours duration.

Paper I

a) Paediatrics - 20 questions

b) General Medicine - 70 questions

c) General Ability - 30 questions

Total - 120 questions

Maximum Marks - 250

Paper II

a) Preventive & Social medicine - 40 questions

b) Gynaecology & Obstetrics - 40 questions

c) Surgery - 40 questions

Total - 120 questions

Maximum Marks - 250

Personality Test - Personality Test carrying 100 marks.

Duration of the Exam:- 1 DAY

Important Dates :

Notification was published on : 14 March 2015

Last Date of Receipt of Applications was : 10 April 2015

Date of commencement of Examination: 28 June 2015(Tentative)
