The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT KGP) is one of finest and top Engineering Institutions in India. It was founded in 1950 by the Govt. of India. As you are looking for important Rules for Hall of Residence of Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT KGP), so I am providing important rules: Important Rules for Hall of Residence of Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT KGP): The mess of each Hall of Residence will function as a single integrated unit. No married accommodation will be provided to any student of the undergraduate courses. Family accommodation under Hall Management Centre may be provided to married MTech students (only defense-sponsored), and Research Scholars, if available. Under special circumstances, the Dean of Students Affairs may permit a student to reside with his Parent/Guardian in the Institute Campus or within a reasonable distance from the Institute. No student will come into or give up the assigned accommodation in any Hall of residence without the prior permission of the Chairman, HMC. A student will reside in a room allotted to him/her and may shift to any other room only under the direction/permission of the Warden. Students will be required to make their rooms available whenever required for inspection, repairs, maintenance or disinfecting and will vacate the rooms when leaving for the vacations/holidays. Students will be responsible for the proper care of the furniture; fan and other fittings in the rooms. Students will be responsible for the safe keeping of their own property. Engaging personal attendants, keeping pets and use of appliances like electric heater, refrigerators, air-coolers, air-conditioners, etc. by a student in the Hall of Residence are prohibited. Possession and use of narcotic substances is illegal. Smoking in public areas is prohibited. Ragging is illegal and punishable. No student can keep any motorized vehicle in the campus. In the event of an illegal activity in the campus, the institute is obligated to permit the police and judiciary intervention.
