Re: PSU Exam Eligibility

Public sector units or PSUs offer various prestigious job opportunities to deserving engineers. PSUs recruit engineers in large numbers every year. There are certain PSUs that do not conduct their own entrance exams to hire engineers. Instead, they consider the candidate’s performance in the GATE exam.

Here I am providing you the eligibility criteria for this exam.

Eligibility-

You should have B.E. /B.Tech. /B.Sc. in Engg. Degree with 60%-70% for general and 50%-60% for the SC/ST/OBC/PH.

For final-year students, the final result of 8th semester and mark-sheets must be presented at the time of interview.
PSUs allow for two years gap.

Age Criteria-

Age must be between 21 to 30 years Three years of relaxation is offered to OBC. 5 years relaxation is granted to SC/ST.
It is important to appear for GATE exam before applying.

Some high profiled PSUs are-

DRDO - Defence Research and Development Organization

BSNL- JTO -Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.- Junior Telecom. Officers

NTPC - National Thermal Power Corporation

Needs minimum 60% marks for General/ OBC and minimum of 50% Marks for SC/ST

HAL - Hindustan Aeronautics Limited

Needs minimum 65% marks for General/ OBC and minimum of 55% Marks for SC/ST

HPCL- Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited

Some companies want GATE score when applying. They have replaced GATE score with written test. Therefore I will suggest you that firstly you have to appear for the General Aptitude Test for Engineering before applying for the job in any PSU company.
