To become CBI (Central Bureau Investigation) officer in crime branch for that you have to appear in CGPE Exam CGPE exam is combined graduate Preliminary Exam. It is conducted by SSC (Staff Selection Commission) board every year. Eligibility: Candidate must have graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized University Age limit: 21 to 27 years For SC/ST candidate, 5 years relaxation For OBC candidate 3 years relaxation Selection procedure Selection is based on Written exam Personal interview Syllabus: Part I- General test, General reasoning and intelligence, General awareness and numerical ability Part II- English language, Language comprehension, Communication/ writing and ability test |

Crime Branch is one of the branches that every State Police has their own and is usually referred as Criminal Investigation Department. To join Crime Branch in CBI you have to clear CGPE exam (Combined graduate Preliminary Exam). This exam is conducted by SSC board every year. Eligibility criteria to join Crime Branch:- Minimum qualification is graduation in any discipline from recognized University. Age- Age must be between 21 to 27 years 5 years relaxation for SC/ST candidate 3 years for OBC candidate Gender: Both male and female candidates eligible to apply Candidate should be a citizen of India. Physical Standards: The candidate should be medically fit for this exam. Height- 165 cms Chest- unexpanded- 77 cms expanded- 82 cms Selection process: Written test Personal Interview CGPE exam pattern Paper No of Questions Marks Duration Part A General Intelligence 100 100 2 Hrs & General Awareness Part-B Arithmetic 100 100 2 Hrs Both parts A & B will be of objective type ( multiple choice type) Syllabus: Part A : a) General Intelligence: It would include questions of both verbal and non verbal type. This component will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetic reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc. b) General Awareness: Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, economic scene, General polity and scientific research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline Part B : Arithmetic: This part will include questions on problems relating to number system, computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions, relationships between numbers, fundamental arithmetical operations, percentage, ratio and proportion, averages, interest, profit and loss, discount, use of tables and graphs, mensuration, time and distance, ratio and time etc. |
