Candidate can attempt JEE a maximum of two times and that too, in consecutive years

Number of attempts which a candidate can avail at JEE shall be limited to 03 (three).

JEE Main exam eligibility:

Upper age limit :
25 year .

This age limit is relaxed by five years for SC, ST, PwD candidates.

Qualification :

Candidate should have either appeared in class 12 class.

If candidate appeared for class XII exams in 2012 and did not pass / qualify that year; but passed in 2013 are also not eligible.

In class 10+2 candidate should have studied main subjects as Mathematics , Physics, Chemistry and English .

No of Attempts for IIT JEE

How many attempts are allowed by an aspirant who wants to pursue engineering? Please also provide me the eligibility as well so that I know when can I appear?

Eligibility for the IIT JEE examination:

JEE Advanced 2016 Eligibility
JEE Main: The 1st step towards being eligible for JEE (Advanced) / IIT JEE 2016 is to appear and qualify in JEE (Main) to be held by CBSE in the month of April, 2016.

The top 2, 00,000 aspirants of JEE Main Paper 1 will be eligible to appear in the JEE Advanced exam.

Age limit: aspirants must be born on or after October 1, 1991. Age relaxation of five years is applicable for SC, ST, PwD candidates.

Appearance in Class XII or corresponding examination: A aspirants should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in all the subjects in either 2015 or 2016. Aspirants who appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination in 2015 and wish to re-appear in the same in 2016 (either for improvement or because they failed in one or more subjects), will have to re-appear in all the subjects in 2016.

Top 20 percentile in board exam: Apart from being in top 2,00,000 in JEE Main paper, the aspirants must be within category-wise top 20 percentile in respective board; or
must have secured 75% (for Gen / OBC) or 70% (for SC / ST / PwD) of aggregate marks in class 12 board exam.

Last 2 years cut off for top 20 percentile has been officially in print by IITs.

Earlier the admission at IITs/ISM: An aspirants should NOT have been admitted in an IIT/ISM (irrespective of whether or not he/she continued in the program) OR accepted the IIT/ISM seat by reporting at a reporting centre in the past. The aspirants whose admission at IITs or ISM was cancelled are also NOT eligible.
