IAS Attempts

Will you please provide information regarding the Number of Attempts for UPSC Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Exam ?

The Indian Administrative Services Exam (IAS exam ) directed by the Union Public Service Commission every year .

Number of Attempts---

A maximum of 6 attempts is granted to every general category applicant and 9 to those belonging to Other Backward Classes.

There is no restriction on the number of attempts in the case of SC/ST applicants.

A physically handicapped person will get as many attempts but if they are from the general category they will get 9 attempts.

An attempt at a Preliminary Exam shall be deemed to be an attempt at the Civil Services Exam.

If a applicant appears in any one paper in Preliminary Exam, shall be deemed to have made an attempt at the Exam.
