Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification:
The candidates should completed Senior Secondary Examination/ Class 12th or any other equivalent examination passed from recognized university or Board with a minimum of 70% marks obtained in aggregate as well as individually in Physics Chemistry and Mathematics and a minimum of 50% marks obtained in English at Class 10th/ 12th level respectively.

Age Limit:
The applicants should have their ages lying in between 17 to 19 and a half years as on the date of closing applications.

Selection Procedure:
Applicants short listed on the basis of eligibility mentioned and marks in qualifying examination shall be called to attend the SSB Interviews scheduled to be held at Bangalore/ Bhopal/ Coimbatore/ Vishakhapatnam during February- May 2015.

The SSB Interviews shall be held in two stages:
Stage I:
Intelligence Test
Picture Perception Test
Group Discussion

Stage II:
Comprises of Psychological Testing
Group Testing
Interview

Merchant Navy is termed as commercial fleet of non-combatant ships which deals with transportation of passengers, cargo and lots of other things by sea that is not possible to dispatch either by road, rail and air, between all the countries.

Eligibility for Merchant Navy

Merchant Navy can be joined after 12th as an officer through various degree or diploma courses in mainly 2 specialized fields, Nautical (Deck) and Marine engineering. Unmarried Female and Male candidate are eligible.

Age Limit:
16-25 Years

Medical Standards:
Candidates should be physically and mentally strong, fit for sea-services under standard norms

Eye-Sight:
6/6 without glasses, No color Blindness (The candidate is subject to medical examination).

After one fulfills the above mentioned eligibility one need to apply for one of the courses mentioned the course and after clearing the exam of the course one needs to go for some training:

Deck Cadet
The minimum education qualification for the course is 10+2 with P.C.M (Physics, Chemistry and Math) as compulsory subjects.
One should have scored minimum 50% in aggregate and 50% in English at 12th level.

1 year Pre-Sea Diploma in Nautical Science
Its leads to B.Sc Nautical Science affiliated to Indian Maritime University and approved by DG Shipping (Govt. of India)
Eligibility – 10+2 PCM/B Sc. Degree/ B.E./B. Tech. Degree

HND (Higher National Diploma) Nautical Science
Qualification- Minimum 10+2 PCM

HND (Higher National Diploma) Marine Engineering
Qualification- Minimum 10+2 PCM B.E

Marine Engineering (4-Year Degree course in Marine Engineering)
Qualification- Minimum 10+2 PCM and English

B.S. in Nautical Technology (3 years training at Institute + 1 year at Sea)
Qualification- Minimum 10+2 PCM 3-Year

B.Sc. Degree in Nautical Science
Qualification- Minimum 10+2 PCM and English

B.Tech Naval Architecure & Ship Building (4 years)
