The International Olympiad of English Language is an exam which is known for its competence and knowledge in the subject of English Language. It is held every year at the National and International standards and is based on the syllabus as mentioned by CBSE/ICSE and the other State Boards. It is organised by the Silverzone Foundation. The application process includes registration by schools who want to participate in the Olympiads and also submission of Students Participation Form for IOEL by them. Silverzone IOEL will be conducted in three levels, where all students up to Class 12th can participate in first two levels however, for Level 3 only students from Class 6th to 12th who have qualified Level 1 and 2 can participate in IOEL Level 3. Eligibility Criteria All students of classes 1 to 12 are eligible Selection Criteria Level 1 Students of classes 1st to 12th are eligible to take part in Level 1. Level 2 Top 1000 Olympiad rank holders of the 1st Level from each class will compete for top positions in a 2nd level exam. All Class 1st rank holders with minimum 60% of marks with minimum 100 students from a particular school are also eligible for Level 2. Level 3 Olympiad 1st rank holders of class 6 to 12 from 2nd level will be eligible for Level 3. Level 3 will be conducted at New Delhi, India. Application Process To apply for iOEL, one has to get an application form from the Principal, Vice Principal or the teacher in charge of the School. A student has to fill the form correctly with all the information and submit it to the office of school authorities with the due fees. Application Fees SC, ST, OBC, General ₹ 120 Gender Transgender, Female, Male Syllabus iOEL Exam Pattern The exam pattern for iOEL is: No. of questions Duration Classes 1 - 2 40 questions 60 minutes Classes 3 - 12 50 questions 60 minutes The marking scheme for iOEL is: Units Class 1 - 12 General English 100 marks Grammar Vocabulary Comprehension and composition Scholar's Zone IOEL Awards For Schools in India Participation fee for the Olympiad is Rs. 120/- per student. Rs. 20/- out of Rs. 120 shall be retained by the school towards honorarium of the invigilator(s) and other expenses like postal expenses, DD charges and photocopying, etc. For Schools outside India Participation fee for the Olympiad is USD$8 per student. USD$2 out of USD$8 shall be retained by the school towards honorarium of the invigilator(s) and other expenses like postal expenses, DD charges and photocopying, etc. LEVEL III Ranks Awards 1st and 2nd A cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/- A trip to the UK Winner’s Trophy. LEVEL II Ranks Awards The 1st rank holder of class 12th A cash prize of Rs. 75,000/- Winner’s Trophy The 1st rank holder of class 11th A cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- Winner’s Trophy. The 1st rank holder of classes 1-10 A cash prize of Rs. 15,000/- Winner’s Trophy. 2nd A cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- Winner’s Trophy 3rd A cash prize of Rs. 5,000/- Winner’s Trophy 1st, 2nd and 3rd state rank holders (50% minimum marks) Exciting prizes LEVEL I Ranks Awards 4th to 10th of each class wrist watches 11th to 25th of each class exciting prizes 26th to 500th of each class topper achievement certificate 1st, 2nd & 3rd of each class and Gold, Silver and bronze medals respectively from every school (50% minimum marks) |
