Nowadays every person has desire to job in merchant navy. In previous period job in the marine field was open just for men. Now days the job chances are opened for both genders.

Courses in Merchant Navy:
• 2 year course for Diploma Holders
• Marine Engineering for (10+2) students, 4 year degree course
• 3 month course for Deck Cadets for (10+2) students
• Nautical Science for (10+2) students, 3 year duration course
• 1 year course for Graduate Mechanical Engineers


After 10th class:

• 3 month Pre-Sea Course for Engine rating.
• 3 month Pre-Sea Course for Deck rating.
• 4 month Pre-Sea Course for Saloon rating.
• 4 month Pre-Sea Course for General Purpose (GP) rating.

It offers an opportunity to visit new and exotic places all around the globe. Merchant Navy career is not only monetarily rewarding but also satisfying and a bit challenging.

Salary packages:
Merchant Navy, the salary can range from anywhere between Rs.12000 to Rs.8 lakhs per month
Junior Engineer on a ship can earn around Rs. 30,000 per month

Eligibility criteria:
He eligibility for joining merchant navy is class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Candidates have to be unmarried Indian citizens (male or female).
Normal vision is required but glasses up to plus or minus 2.5 may be allowed.
Admission is through an entrance followed by a screening test and a main written examination.

After clearing the test, there is an interview and a medical test.
You also need to complete a ship-training course prior to the employment. The course is generally short-term where the candidates are taught basic security concerns of voyaging.

Qualification for joining merchant navy as officer

The applicants who wish to pursue a career in Merchant navy should complete the 12th class with physics as the optional subject.
