You are asking about how to get into the customs department for Officers post so for this post you have to go through combined graduate level examination conducted by Staff Selection Commission.

The Central Board of Excise and Customs is a governmental body. It is a part of Revenue department under Finance Ministry.

The Customs department on the whole deals with the levy of taxable goods imported to the Country. They are also responsible to generate policies and procedures regarding customs.

You can get the admission into the senior level job positions such as Superintendent, Preventive Officers of Customs etc, through entrance test which are conducted by UPSC and SSC.

Those who clear the IRS Exam conducted by UPSC can join the high-grade post of Assistant Commissioner of Customs.

This exam is held in three stages- that is tier 1, tier 2 and Interview

Eligibility:
Education Graduation in any stream
No Minimum Percentage is required in Graduation

AGE-
Minimum 18 years
Maximum 27 years
AGE Relaxations- 3 years for OBC candidates, 5 years for SC/ST candidates

Custom Officer comes under the group A officers.


Selection of qualified applicants to this post is carried out through Civil
Services Examination (CSAT).

Graduation in any stream from a recognized educational institution is the
basic qualification required to attend the exam.

Those who pass CSAT can get in to the role of Customs Officer under Indian
Customs and Central Excise Service (IC&CES).



Eligibility:




Candidate should have a bachelor’s degree with minimum 55% of marks.

Candidate’s age should be of 21 years or above.

Upper age limit of the contender is 30 years.

Contenders belonging to backward category can expect relaxation in age.



Exam Pattern:

CSAT Exam is conducted in 2 stages,

Preliminary

Mains

There will be 2 compulsory papers for preliminary exam.

Time allotted for answering each paper is 2 hours.

Paper I may include questions on general knowledge and day to day affairs
across the globe.

Paper II includes questions on reasoning, mental ability, quantitative
aptitude and English Language. Applicants who pass this preliminary level
exam can look for mains exam.



In mains exam there will be a written exam and interview.

There will be 9 papers for the written test, out of which 2 are of qualifying
nature. The applicants who get through the written exam will be short-listed
for interview round.

Those who clear the interview round can get short listed for training in
Central Excise cadre. Once training is completed successfully, they can join
as Customs.
