Re: Customs Inspector Post Eligibility

Customs and Central Excise departments come under revenue department of ministry of finance. There are around 6 customs collectorates and around 34 central excise collectorates in India.

Eligibility details for Customs Inspector is given below:
Applicant must be a citizen of India.
Applicant Must be more than 18 years of age.
Applicant Must possess Vehicle license.
Applicant must have completed graduation from any recognized univershty.
Applicant must have 55% of marks in their graduation.
Applicant must have Ability to work in flexible schedules.

The customs and central excise department has wings prevention and appraisal that work under the rank of assistant commissioner.

Entry and Training
Through UPSC
Senior superintendents, Officers of customs and central excise services are appointed through UPSC examination.
Constables and customs preventive officers and central excise inspectors/ constables are the two stages where directed recruitment takes place.
State Public Service Commission Allied Services Examination gives state level jobs in customs and Excise.
