If you want to become customs officer then you have to appear in civil service exam. It is conducted by UPSC for recruitment to the Indian Civil Service for posts given below

Plan of Examination

The examination is conducted in three stages
(1) Civil Services Aptitude test (CSAT)
(2) Civil Services (Main) Examinations conducted for candidates selected in the preliminary examination .
(3) Those who are selected in the main examination are eligible to appear before the Interview Board.

UPSC Civil Service Preliminary exam Eligibility-

Degree from recognised University

Age limit:

Age must be between 21 years to 32 years.
In case of candidates belonging to SC/ ST category, the upper age limit is relaxable up to five years.
In case of OBC candidates, the upper age limit is relaxable up to three years.

Nationality-

The candidates should be the citizens of India for the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service.

Date of notification 16.05.2015
Last date for receipt of applications 12.06.2015
Date of commencement of exam 23.08.2015 (Sunday)

UPSC Preliminary Examination Syllabus-

Syllabus of Paper I -(200 marks) Duration : Two hours

Current events of national and international importance.
History of India and Indian National Movement.
Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World.
Indian Polity and Governance-Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization
General Science

Syllabus for Paper II-(200 marks) Duration: Two hours

Comprehension
Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
Logical reasoning and analytical ability
Decision making and problem solving
General mental ability
Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. - Class X level)
English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).
Questions relating to English Language Comprehension skills of Class X level (last item in the Syllabus of Paper-II) will be tested through passages from English language only without providing Hindi translation thereof in the question paper.
The questions will be of multiple choices, objective type.
