UGC NET is for post graduate contenders wishing to apply for Junior Research Fellowship and Lectureship in colleges and universities of India.

Eligibility Criteria
Age:-
Junior Research Fellowship: The age limit of students for JRF is 28 years of age.
Lectureship: There is no upper age limit

A relaxation of upto 5 years is provided to the applicants belonging to SC/ST/ PWD/OBC categories and to women students

Three years’ relaxation in age will be permissible to students possessing L.L.M. Degree.

Educational Qualification:-

i) Scheduled Caste /Scheduled Tribe /Persons with disability category Applicants who have secured at least 50% marks in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this test.
ii) Applicants who have secured at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree from universities recognized by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test.

ii) Applicants are advised to appear in the subject of their post-graduation only.

iii) Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September, 1991 shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in NET.
