NET is the National Eligibility Test conducted by UGC for the post of college & university level lectureship and for award of Junior Research Fellowship

Eligibility:
Candidates who have secured at least 55% (50% for reserved category) marks in Master's Degree in relevant subject in which they appear for the exam OR equivalent from recognized universities are eligible for this test.

ii) Candidates are appearing in the final year of Master's degree examination may also apply for this test

Age limit:
(i) Junior Research Fellowship:
Not more than 28 years as on December 1, 2014.

(ii) Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor.

UGC NET Exam is Conducted by the National Educational Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria :


The candidate must be an Indian national.

Candidate must be a Graduate/Postgraduate Degree in B.Tech/BE/Integrated BS-MS/MBBS/MSC/PhD from a recognized university/institution, with a minimum score of 55% in the final degree exam.

There is no upper age limit for the exam for lectureship.

The maximum age limit for JRF exam is 28 years.

UGC NET Exam Pattern :

This exam comprises of 2 sessions and 3 papers –
Session 1:

Paper I

Paper I is completely generic in nature, and focuses mainly on assessment of the candidate’s research or teaching aptitude.
It tests the general awareness, comprehension, divergent thinking and reasoning ability.

Paper II

Paper II is an objective type paper which has 50 compulsory multiple choice questions, on the subject chosen by the candidate.

The total marks for this paper is 100, and the time duration given is 1 ¼ hours.

Paper III

Paper III is an objective style paper with 75 compulsory questions from the chosen subject.

This paper carries a total of 150 marks, and the time duration provided is 2.5 hours.
