When will the IIT Madras host the Annual Technical Festival of Mechanical Engineering Department which is popularly known as Mechanica ? What kind of events and completions going to take place at Mechanica of IIT Madras ?

I completed B.Tech degree and planning to join Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Madras for doing M.Tech searching for course details. Will you provide basic details about M.Tech course along with admission details also provide department contact details?

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Madras is as old as the Institute itself.

Mechanical Engineering is one of the major activities in the engineering profession and its principles are involved in the design, study, development and construction

M.Tech

Department offers a post graduate degree program M.Tech (2 years) in three major streams.

Mechanical Design
Manufacturing and Precision Engineering
Thermal Engineering


Admission to these programs is possible under two categories

M.Tech (Regular)

Students under this category are admitted based on their rank in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) only.

M.Tech (Sponsored/QIP)

Few seats are also available under sponsored/QIP category in which the candidates are admitted through personal interview. To be considered under sponsored/QIP category, the candidate must be a full time employee of the sponsoring organization.
