As such there is no specific Eligibility criteria for girls to join Merchant Navy . Both males and females can join Merchant Navy . IMU-CET is common entrance exam conducted all over India for admission into various Marine courses like B.E Marine Engineering Naval Artitecture Ship Building & Repair Deck Cadet Course, DNS Leading To Bsc Nautical Science Bsc.Nautical Science, IMU CET Eligiblity Creatria For UG Courses Following are the eligibility criteria: 1. 1Year IMU-DNS course- A) B.Sc (Any of these Physics/ Mathematics/ Chemistry/ Electronics) B) 60% (PCM) and 50% (English) in 12th class passed candidates with 55 % marks. C) B.tech candidates with 50 % in English. 2) B Tech Marine Engineering/Naval Architecture - 60%(PCM) and 50% (English) in 12th Class. 2nd Year lateral entry students must have pursued Marine or Mechanical or Naval Architecture or Electrical in diploma. 3) B.Sc- 3 years- 60% (PCM) and 50% (English) in 12th Class. For B.Sc in Ship Building and Repair only 50% in PCM. 4) M Tech Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering- 60 % in B.tech in Mechanical /Civil Aeronautical/Marine/ Naval Architecture. 5) PG Diploma in Marine Engineering- 50 % in B.tech/ B.E course or program. 6) MBA- 50 % with any stream. 7) LLM (Maritime Law)- 50% in any law degree. Students joining DNS, B.Sc. (Nautical Science) & B.Sc. (Maritime Science) degree course are not allowed to wear glasses and their vision should be 6/6 (normal) in each eye separately. Selection Procedure: First University conducts a common entrance online test and who are selected are called for counseling or GD or PI as per the course applied. Merchant Navy is the backbone of international trade. A career in the merchant navy is considered a glamorous job. It offers an opportunity to visit new and exotic places all around the globe. Merchant Navy career is not only monetarily rewarding but also satisfying and a quite challenging. Eligibility to join the Merchant Navy Age: The minimum age is 17 years and the maximum is 25 years to be eligible for examinations pertaining to the merchant navy. The maximum age relaxation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes is 5 years. Physical Fitness: A certificate of fitness from a registered medical practitioner is mandatory for admission into a course. Candidates with disability arent eligible for admission into courses with regard to the merchant navy. Eyesight: 6/12 in each eye or 6/9 in better eye and 6/18 in other eye for distant unaided vision Color blindness in any case is absolutely not permitted. Other: The eligibility for joining merchant navy is finishing class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. One has to be unmarried Indian citizens (male or female). Admission is through an entrance followed by a screening test and a main written examination. After clearing the test, there is an interview and a medical test. One also needs to complete a ship-training course prior to the employment. The course is generally short-term where the candidates are taught basic security concerns of voyaging. |
