I want to get admission in Ph.D. Economics in Delhi School of Economics so can you please tell me the eligibility criteria for admission?

Delhi School of Economics is a centre of post graduate learning of the University of Delhi. It is one of India's finest academic institutions in social sciences, especially in the discipline of Economics. It was established in 1949.

Ph.D. Economics

The Ph.D. programmes in Economics operate within the stipulated ordinances of the University of Delhi.

Eligibility –

Master’s or M.Phil. degree of the University of Delhi or any other recognized university, or any degree recognized as equivalent in the subject in which the candidate wishes to pursue a course of research, or in an allied subject.

Candidates must have obtained either a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade in the M.Phil. degree or a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in the Master’s degree.

SC/ST candidates shall be given 5% relaxation in the minimum eligibility marks.

Teachers of the University of Delhi and its constituent colleges are eligible only if they have completed two years of service.

Teachers/employees of any other recognized college/university/research institute having completed three years of service will be considered only if they get study leave for a period of two years to complete residency requirements.

Candidates admitted to the Ph.D. programme may be awarded UGC (Non-NET) Fellowships of Rs. 8000 per month with contingency support of Rs. 8000 per year as per UGC/University rules.

Candidates who are NET qualified but do not receive the JRF may also be awarded the UGC (Non-NET) fellowship.

Only applicants admitted through the Entrance Examination will be eligible for such support in the first year of the Ph.D. programme.
