About JAM:

Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (IIT JAM 2017) is national level exam that is conducted by various IISC or IIT rotationally.

It is held for providing admission in M.Sc (Two years), M.Sc. Ph.D, Joint M.Sc. Ph.D

Offered Courses

Courses offered by various IITs across the country are as following:

Integrated Ph.D (at IISc Bangalore)
M.Sc (Two year)
Joint M.Sc-Ph.D
M.Sc-Ph.D Dual Degree
M.Sc-M.Tech

Pattern:

No. of questions: 60 divided in three section viz. A, B, C
Marking Scheme: 60 questions carrying 100 marks
Negative Marking: There will be no negative marking in Section B and Section C.
Time Duration: 3 hours

Section Questions

Section-A 30 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
Section-B 10 Multiple Select Questions (MSQ)
Section-C 20 Numerical Answer Type (NAT)

About GATE:

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is jointly regulated by the seven IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) and IISC on rotation basis.

GATE 2017 examination is conducting by the IIT Roorkee. The examination commences for providing admission to M.Tech/M.E programme offered by the IITs, NITs, GFTI and various private institutions

Exam pattern:

No. of Papers: There is only one paper of GATE consisting of 100 marks.
No. of Questions: The number of questions asked in the examination will be 65 questions of objective type and numerical answer type (NAT).

Out of 65 questions, 10 questions will be asked from the general aptitude section and carry 15 marks.

Duration: The time allotted to solve the question paper will be 3 hours.
