For UPSEE Candidates must know which category they belong to and be aware of the abbreviations used for the particular category. Main categories are based on domicile and reservation criteria. Here are details: Students having passed the 10 + 2 examinations and intermediate examinations from U.P and does not declare reservation to any category are under the General category Those candidates who have passed their qualifying 10+2 examination from Uttar Pradesh and have parents residing in U.P, and declare reservation under the schedule caste & they must carry certificate no. 1 at the time of counselling. Candidates having qualified their exams from U.P and whose parents stay in U.P, who declare reservation under the ST caste of U.P, denoted by UPST need the Certificate no.1. Candidates qualifying from U.P and domicile of the same state, declaring reservation under OBC category, denoted by UPBC, must carry certificate no. 2 to the counselling The students who have parents residing in U.P but have passed their qualifying examinations from any outside the state, and do not belong to any reserved category, are denoted by UPGD. They must provide the domicile certificate to the counselling that is the certificate no.3. Candidates having passed their qualifying examinations from outside the state of U.P but are residents of U.P, belonging to the ST, are required to carry the certificates 1 and 3 at the time of counselling. Candidates having passed their qualifying examinations from outside the state of U.P and are residents of U.P, belonging to the ST, they are denoted by GDST and are required to carry certificates no 1 and 3 at the time of counselling. Candidates having passed their qualifying examinations from outside the state of U.P but being residents of U.P, belonging to other backward classes, are denoted by GDBC.
