Re: Procedure to Join MIT, USA
Mostly, US students apply to MIT at the beginning of their final year of high school and international applicants do the same. Only accepted students need to send final grades. Students who have enrolled at another university - either in America or abroad - must apply to MIT as a transfer student. All students are required to demonstrate minimum competence in fields they will continue to study at MIT. All international students study: Four years of English Mathematics, at least to the level of calculus Two or more years of history / social studies Biology Chemistry Physics To apply to MIT one need to take some tests and complete the application. International students - or domestic students who do not speak English natively - have two options for testing. We have no preference between these options. It is your choice, and you should take the set of tests with which you feel the most comfortable (All January testing is allowed.): Option 1: The SAT or the ACT Plus Writing, as well as two SAT Subject Tests: one in math (level 1 or 2), and one in science (physics, chemistry, or biology e/m). Option 2: The TOEFL (or IELTS) as well as two SAT Subject Tests: one in math (level 1 or 2) and one in science (physics, chemistry, or biology e/m). This option is especially recommended for students who do not speak English at home or in school, or who have been speaking English for fewer than five years. ADMISSION Dates & Deadlines International students only apply during the regular action cycle. As such, the dates and deadlines are as follows: September-October of application year: create a MyMIT account, begin the application December 10th: deadline to contact your interviewer (if available) January 1st: deadline to apply to MIT January/February: complete the February Updates & Notes Form as soon as it is available February 15th: deadline to submit all Financial Aid materials Late March: decisions released Contact Detail: Massachusetts Institute of Technology 77 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, United States [MAP]Massachusetts Institute of Technology [/MAP] |
