Pro Bono Institute (PBI) is an ACC’s partner in creating CPBO and it is a nonprofit organization with a mandate to explore and identify new approaches to and resources for the provision of legal services to the poor.

PBI identifies and develops innovative programs and undertakes rigorous evaluations to ensure that these new approaches are workable and effective.

PBI administers a number of projects designed to enhance access to justice, including:
• Law Firm Pro Bono Project
• Global Pro Bono Project
• Second Acts
• Public Interest Project

PBI was established in 1996 and provides followings:
• Research
• Consultative services
• Analysis and assessment
• Publications
• Training to a broad range of legal audiences
