The Northwestern Police Motorcycle Instructor Recertification course is designed to ensure all instructors certified by Northwestern are able to teach the Northwestern course, using its copyrighted curriculum, instruction, and riding exercises. Police Motorcycle Instructor Recertification Status Registration Not Available Course ID PT-PMIR Section ID 041918-LVE.NV Session Spring 2018 Category Police Training Days Th Dates 4/19/18 - 4/19/18 Times 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM Format Classroom This 8-hour program includes a test of the student-instructors riding and teaching ability. Students who seek recertification must successfully complete the Northwestern Police Motorcycle Instructor Recertification course. Individuals with active Northwestern instructor certification or expired Northwestern instructor certification are eligible to register for the course. Certified Northwestern Police Motorcycle Instructors, by demonstrating over time their superior knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide training, afford agencies reduced risk and security by having proven motor officers who are competent, capable, and extremely well trained. Trained officers are less likely to be injured or be involved in crashes. Upon successful completion of the Northwestern Police Motorcycle Instructor Recertification Course, students receive a new instructor certificate plus the most recent edition of the Northwestern Center for Public Safety Motorcycle Instructor Manual. Course Content ABS braking Street riding techniques Law enforcement tactical techniques Course Materials Students ARE REQUIRED to bring the following items to class: Motorcycle endorsement on the students drivers license Eyewear (wrap-around lenses recommended) Full-fingered gloves Above the ankle lace-up boots DOT or SNELL certified helmet ("3/4 Shell" recommended) Leather or Kevlar jacket (optional) All personnel employed by agencies outside the United States of America must obtain approval from Northwestern University Center for Public Safety prior to registering.
