Re: NCC Reservation in CDS Exam

The "Combined Defence Services"Examination (CDS) is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy.

The selection of candidates in all wings are done through three stage
1)written exam
2)SSB interview
3)medical fitness

But if you have the NCC certificate then you can apply for direct SSB interview, that is the candidate will be exempted from the written exam stage,it will be a two stage process of selection for the candidates.

CDSE is a three stage process and there is no link between CDSE and NCC.

Candidates qualifying the written test are interviewed by the Service Selection Board and if finally selected, depending upon the choice given by the candidates and their merit list ranking, are sent to one of the following institutes for orientation training:

(a) Indian Military Academy , Dehradun
(b) Naval Academy, Goa
(c) Air Force Academy, Begumpet, Hyderabad
(d) Officers Training Academy , Chenna

The eligibility criteria specified for NCC Special Entry are:

Age limit:
Age should be between 19 and 25 years

Eduactional Qualification:

Candidates should be Graduate/ Final year appearing with aggregate 50% marks in any discipline and should have completed 2 years of service in NCC Senior Division Army along with minimum of ‘B’ grade in ‘C’ certificate examination.

Eligible candidates will be called at selection center where two stages of screening will be run and those clearing Stage-I will undergo five-day SSB interview.
Successful candidates from SSB will move on to medical examination for physical fitness.
And finally as per the merit list prepared by DG Recruiting, selected candidates will get admission into Indian Army through OTA Chennai.
