Re: Indian Navy Joint Exercises

India often conducts naval exercises with other friendly countries designed to increase naval interoperability and also to strengthen cooperative security relationship.

Some such exercises take place annually like the Varuna with the French Navy, Konkan with the Royal Navy, Indra with Russian Navy, Malabar with the US Navy, Simbex with the Republic of Singapore Navy and IBSAMAR with the Brazil and South African navies.

It also conducted exercise with the People's Liberation Army Navy in 2003 and will send ships to the South China Sea to participate in the fleet review. Apart from the Indian Ocean, India has steadily gained influence in the Pacific Ocean.

In 2007, it conducted naval exercise with Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force and U.S Navy in the Pacific and also signed an agreement with Japan in October 2008 for joint naval patrolling in the Asia-Pacific region

Its first Atlantic Ocean deployment happened in 2009. During this deployment, its fleet conducted exercises with the French, German, Russian and British Navies.

In 2010, its warships were deployed in the Asia pacific region, and conducted courtesy calls at friendly ports. It carried out a Joint Naval exercise with Sri Lanka Navy codenamed SLINEX-II from 19 to 24 September 2011.
