Indian Merchant Navy Deck Cadet

I want to join Merchant Navy as a deck cadet so what is the procedure of it? Tell me the eligibility, age criteria and the physical standard to become deck cadet? I have to clear any entrance exam to get into Merchant Navy? What is the selection process for it?

The Seamen Ship Management Pvt. Ltd Deck Cadet Course Programme is designed to equip students with the competencies required to carry out safely the watch keeping duties of an Officer in charge of a Navigational Watch, both at sea and in port.

Deck Cadet Course Programme

The Training Programme is provided by Institute of Maritime Education & Training Pvt. Ltd, Australia (hereinafter referred to as IMETA).

The Programme and the Certificate of Competency offered to the students will be as per the requirements of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (hereinafter referred to as AMSA).

Duration:

Australian Deck Cadet course is a 3 months residential course.

Eligibility: -

12th PCM /Science / Electronics & Electrical Engineer / Computer Engineer / IT / Automobile / Electronic & Telecommunication Engineer

Deg. or Dip. with 50% aggregate marks from AICTE /DOTE Universities / Colleges.

Minimum 50% marks in English at 10+2 or 10th level is a Fluency in written and spoken English.

Age limit:

Minimum : Not less than 17 years, Maximum: Not more than 25 years

Candidates who are awaiting for 12th Board Results can also apply.

Medical standards:-

Minimum Height-157 cms, Weight- 50 kgs.

Should be physically fit for sea and should meet the medical standards laid by the Director General of shipping.

Eyesight/Vision:

Use of corrective lenses for eyesight is permitted but the maximum permissible limits, at entry, are 6/12 in each eye or 6/9 in better eye and 6/18 in other eye for distant unaided vision.

Color blindness is not permitted.

Mode of selection:

Written /Interview/ Medical examination.
