Food inspectors monitor and keep close alertness on food processors, manufacturers and distributors for violation of safety and sanitation. Inspectors report violations to the apt regulatory agency and are responsible for ensure that foods are suitable for human consumption

Skills required for a Food Inspector –
Critical thinking
- knowledge of laws and legal codes
- ability to solve problems
- judgement and decision making
- co-ordination of personnel
- trouble shooting
- management of personnel

Eligibility for Food Inspector:-
UPSC All India Food Inspector Exam Union Public Service Commission directs All India Food Inspector Exam for recruitment of food inspectors in various offices in the country.

Age: Candidates must be aged between 18 and 25 years of age are eligible to apply for the post of Food Inspector.

Educational qualification: Aspirants possesing any of the following qualifications are eligible to apply for UPSC All India Food Inspector Exam –

Graduates in medicine with one year training in food inspection –
Bachelor degree in science stream with chemistry as a compulsory –
Bachelor degree in Agriculture / Public Health/ Veterinary Science/Dairy Technology/Pharmacy / Food Technology

Procedure of Selection:- Candidates are selected based on performance in written test and interview

It is a national level exam consisting of technical and aptitude based questions. The exam will be conducted at examination centers in every district of each state.

Candidates possessing any degree equivalent to those given above are eligible to apply.

Pattern of exam:-

The test pattern comprises of questions on technical side, which includes science subjects. It also consists of numerical ability and GK questions. There will also be an English language test. The duration of the exam will be 150 minutes. Aspirants need to be very careful in attempting unknown questions, as there is negative marking for incorrect answers.

Food Inspector Exam is conducted by the Food and Supplies Department of the respective states for short listing eligible candidates in the concerned position, beside it Union Public Service Commission also directs All India Food Inspector Exam for recruitment of food inspectors in various offices around the country

Eligibility for Food Inspector:-
Applicants have must graduation in medicine or have a bachelors degree in agriculture, pharmacy, food technology and dairy technology.

Age limit :
Aged should between 18 and 25 years of age are eligible to apply for the post of Food Inspector.

Selection process :-
Candidates will be selected based on performance in written test and interview.
