Dibrugarh University was founded in 1965 under the provisions of the Dibrugarh University Act, 1965, it is a university in the Indian state of Assam

Dibrugarh University PHD Regulation
1. The Research Council is the apex body that administers the research programmes
of the University.
The Research Council shall consist of the following:
(a) The Vice-Chancellor
(b) The Deans
(c) The Registrar
(d) The Controller of Examinations
(e) Five (05) Professors/ Associate Professors
(f) Academic Registrar/ Deputy Registrar (Academic) – Member Secretary

Admission requirements:
A candidate (other than candidates from Medical and Engineering streams) seeking admission to the course for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) shall have to obtain at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree OR equivalent grade point

All applicants seeking admission to the Doctoral program of the University must clear the Dibrugarh University Research Admission Test (DURAT). Candidates with M. Phil degree (regular mode) and NET- JRF qualified candidates are exempted from appearing in the DURAT
