Indian police service is a reputed competitive examination organized by union public service examination . here I am giving you details about it .

Eligibility :
You have to passed a graduate degree in any discipline of any well recognized of the Universities

Age limit :
You must be at least 21 years of age at the time of filling the Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam form
Maximum age : Not more than 30 years of age..

Physical requirement
Height – Male 165 cm & ST (not the SC/ OBC) – 160 cm
Female 150 cm & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm
Chest – Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm.
Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm.

Vision Requirement for IPS
Parameters Better eye (corrected vision) Worse eye

Scheme of CS (Preliminary) Examination
The Preliminary Examination consists of two papers of objective type (multiple-choice questions) carrying a maximum of 400 marks.

Syllabus of Paper I -(200 marks) Duration : Two hours
Current events of national and international importance.
History of India and Indian National Movement.

Indian Polity and Governance-Constitution, Political.
System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
Economic and Social Development-Sustainable.
Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social.
Sector Initiatives, etc.
General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization.

Syllabus for Paper II-(200 marks) Duration: Two hours
Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
Logical reasoning and analytical ability
Decision making and problem solving
General mental ability
Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. - Class X level)

One of the Indian Languages to be selected by the candidate from the 18 languages included in the VIIIth Schedule to the Constitution (Qualifying Paper) 300 Marks
Paper-II English (Qualifying Paper) 300 Marks
Paper-III Essay 200 Marks
Papers IV & V General Studies (300 Marks for each paper) 600 Marks
Papers VI, VII, VIII & IX
Any two subjects (each having 2 papers) to be selected from the prescribed optional subjects (300 marks for each paper) 1200 Marks

As you want to apply for IPS exam so for that you want to know about Required Qualification and Height for this exam so here I am giving you information about same:

Educational Qualifications:
Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized University.

Age Limit:
Minimum age is 21 years.
Maximum age is 32 years.

Age Relaxation:

Maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe.

Maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Class.

Height:
General Male-165cm and Female-150cm

SC/ST Male should be 160cm and Female should be 145cm

Chest:
Male should have 85cm

Female should have 79cm with expansion of 5cm in both the cases.

Paper III : English (200 marks / 3 hours duration) :- This will be a qualifying test only of Matriculation or equivalent standard.

The aim of the paper is to test the candidate’s ability to read and understand serious discursive prose, and to express his ideas clearly and correctly, in English.

The pattern of questions would be broadly as follows (indicative only) :—

(i) Comprehension of given passages;
(ii) Precis Writing;
(iii) Usage and Vocabulary;
(iv) Paragraphs writing
