The entrance examination for Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is conducted by UPSC every year. Exam for IAS Prelims and Mains are generally held in the month of August and December respectively. You want to know dates of UPSC Indian Administrative Service (IAS) prelims here I am provide you the same.

Eligibility criteria;
1. Nationality
- A citizen of India
- A subject of Nepal or Bhutan
- A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 01/01/1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from other countries with the intention of permanently settling in India (detailed list of countries available on official website)
provided that a candidate belonging to categories above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the the Indian government.

Important Dates (2014)

Preliminary Exam: 24th August 2014

Mains Exam: (Tentative) December 2014

Age limit:

Candidate must be between 21 to 32 years as on 1st August 2014. In other words candidates born 2 August 1982 to 1st August 1993 are eligible
Relaxation in age;

For SC/ST – 5 years
For OBC -3 years
For Physically Handicapped Candidates – 10 years

Exam pattern;
Paper I : General Studies (GS) - 200 marks - 2 hours
Paper II : Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT) - 200 marks - 2 hours

Selection process;

Preliminary Examination (Objective type) comprising 2 exams : General Studies and CSAT
Civil Services Main Examination (Written and Interview)
