GME means Graduate Marine Engineering

Candidate who completes GME is known as a graduate marine engineer.

Minimum requirement for this course is the candidate completing B.E (Mechanical) to join as a Engineering officer in the Merchant Navy.

This is a one year conversion course for Mechanical Engineering / Naval Architecture graduates to become Marine Engineers and is approved by Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of India.

Eligibility for admission:
There are certain requirements to join the one year marine engineering course.

They are as follows:
• Name of the Course : Pre-sea Training in Marine Engineering

• Duration : One year

• Course starts : 1st January, February, March, June, September, October and December every year.

• Nationality : Indian

• Qualification : B.E. ( Mechanical / Naval Architecture / Automation) with minimum 55-60% mark in aggregate of all the semesters

• Age : Age not exceeding 28 years of the year of admission

• English : Minimum 50% marks in English in Std. X / XII.

• Eye Sight : 6/6 or 6/12 in each eye or 6/18 in one eye and 6/9 in the better eye. Normal colour vision ( tested by Ishihara test chart ) and no colour blindness.

• Medical Fitness : Medically fit for sea service.
