Gauhati University is the first university which was founded in North-East India. it is situated in Guwahati, Assam, India. It was founded on 26 January 1948. this university offers various courses MA in English is one of them.

Eligibility
Graduates from SCIENCE, COMMERCE and ARTS are eligible to apply
They have either
(i) Secured Major in English
OR
(ii) Scored at least 50% in English as a subject at graduation

Applicants from all three streams (Arts, Science and Commerce) are eligible to apply

General category applicants and reserved quota applicants must secure the minimum pass percentage of 50% and 45% respectively in the proficiency test in order to be considered for admission.

Selection:

Selection is based on a two-hour Proficiency Test in English for 100 marks.

This exam was taken to find whether that the applicant has the necessary level of command in the English Language required for the LELT Programme.
