IIT Guwahati Phd Eligibility

I am thinking to do PhD (Rural Technology) Programme from IIT Guwahati. I want to know about eligibility criteria required to take admission in PhD (Rural Technology) Programme. So will you tell me about eligibility criteria to join this Program of IIT Guwahati?

The IIT Guwahati offers PhD (Rural Technology) Programme. The admission for this Ph.D Program will start from July 2017.

Research Areas:
Technology and Development; Public Policy and Governance; Rural Housing, Transportation; Energy, Environment, Climate Change and Development; Environment Assessment; Water Resources; and Agro-Food Processing

Categories of PhD Students:
i) REGULAR (FULL-TIME)
ii) SPONSORED (FULL-TIME)
iii) SELF-FINANCED (FULL-TIME)
iv) PROJECT STAFF
v) PART-TIME
vi) EXTERNAL

Eligibility Criteria:
Masters degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Environmental Science/Agriculture and other relevant fields with a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5 or 60% of marks.
OR
Master of Science with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks.
OR
Four-year Bachelors degree in Engineering/Technology/Agriculture or equivalent in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.5 or 70% of marks.
OR
Four-year Bachelors degree in Engineering/Technology/Agriculture or equivalent in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.0

Work Experience:
Candidate in Sponsored (Full-Time), Part-time and External categories must be a regular employee of the sponsoring organization with at least one year of professional experience in the respective field.

Relaxation for SC/ST/PwD Candidates:
Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CPI for SC/ST/PwD applicants.

Financial Support:
Junior Research Fellow(JRF)
1st & 2nd Year : Rs.25,000/- p.m.

Senior Research Fellow(SRF)
3rd to 5th Year : Rs.28,000/- p.m.

Important Dates:
Starting of online application process from 10.00 a.m. of 22 March 2017 onwards.

Closing of online application process by 5.00 p.m. of 17 April 2017.
