Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) is conducted every year for admission of Karnataka candidates to full time courses in Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Unani, Homoeopathy, Naturopathy & Yoga, Engineering, Technology and Architecture courses, in institutions of Karnataka state only.

Academic eligibility

Medical/Dental Courses:


You should pass Karnataka 10+2 examination or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and with English as one of the languages of study with minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in the PCB group and should have 50% of marks in aggregate in PCB subjects in the common entrance test

SC/ST/OBC Candidates must secure minimum 40% of marks in aggregate in PCB group both in qualifying examination and common entrance test

Ayurveda/Homoeopathy/Unani/Naturopathy and Yoga courses:

You should have passed Karnataka 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and with English as one of the languages subject with minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in PCB group.

SC/ST/OBC candidates must secure minimum 40% of marks in aggregate in PCB group in the qualifying examination

You should have completed the age of 17 years as on 31st December, 2012

Engineering/Technology courses:

You should have passed Karnataka 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics along Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Biology as optional subjects with English with minimum of 45% of marks.

SC/ST/OBC Candidates must secure minimum 40% of marks in aggregate in the optional subjects in the qualifying examination

Architecture Course:

You should have passed Karnataka 10+2 or equivalent examination with Mathematics as a compulsory optional subject with minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in all the subjects in the qualifying examination

Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD of mental retardation or mental illness (including dyslexia) must secure 45% of marks and should compulsory appear for NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) and get a minimum of 40% in it (including SC/ST/OBC)

Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) Syllabus:


Mathematics Paper Syllabus:

IT consist of Algebra, which includes Theory of Indices and Logarithms, Progressions, Mathematical Induction, Theory of Equations, Permutations and Combinations, Binomial Theorem, Partial Fractions, Elements Of Number Theory and Congruencies, Analytical Geometry and Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Calculus and Trigonometry.

Physics Paper Syllabus:

The syllabus of physics includes the study of Dynamics, Static, Hydrostatics and Hydrodynamics, Heat, and Geometrical Optics.

Chemistry Paper Syllabus:

Syllabus includes following topics- Kinetic Theory of Gases, Stochiometry, Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding, Electrochemistry, Radioactivity, Organic Chemistry and Environmental Pollution.

Biology Paper Syllabus:

The syllabus of biology is divided into two the following parts:-
1.) Botany,
2.) Zoology

Section of Botany consists of following topics- Cell Biology and Genetics, Histology and Plant Anatomy, Diversity of Plant Life on Earth, Introduction to Ecology, and Taxonomy

Section of Zoology comprises the study of Tissues of humans, Digestion, Circulation, Respiration, Nervous System, Human Reproduction, Origin Of Life, Organic Evolution, Animal Resources And Human Welfare Dairy, Developmental Biology, Diversity of Animal Life, Study of the Cell and Cell Division.

Entrance Test Date 1st to 3rd May 2013
