To become a police officer you need to take part in the Civil Service examination which is conducted Every Year. Eligibility for Civil Service Examination Degree from any accepted university Age limit General- Lower Upper 21yrs. 30 yrs. OBC – Lower Upper 21 yrs 33 yrs. SC/ST – Lower Upper 21 yrs. 35 yrs. To become a Police Officer in India , applicants have to appear in Indian Police Service Exam . Indian Police Service Exam held every year under the supervision of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Eligibility:- Applicants must hold a degree in any discipline from a recognized University . Applicants must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years. Age Relaxation -- (i) 5years if a applicant belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe. (ii) 3 years in the case of applicants belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such applicants. Exam Pattern: Preliminary Examination:- The Examination shall comprise of two compulsory papers of 200 marks each. (i) Both the question papers will be of the objective type (ii) The question papers will be set both in Hindi and English. Main Examination:- Paper-A (One of the Indian Language to be selected by the student from the Languages included in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution). 300 Marks Paper-B English 300 Marks Papers to be counted for merit Paper-I Essay 250 Marks Paper-II General Studies-I 250 Marks (Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society) Paper-III General Studies -II 250 Marks (Polity, Social Justice and International relations , Governance, Constitution) Paper-IV General Studies -III 250 Marks (Bio-diversity, Environment, Technology, Economic Development, Security and Disaster Management) Paper-V General Studies -IV 250 Marks (Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude) Paper-VI Optional Subject - Paper 1 250 Marks Paper-VII Optional Subject - Paper 2 250 Marks Candidates may choose any one of the optional subject List of optional subjects for Main Examination: (i) Mathematics (ii) Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science (iii) Anthropology (iv) Botany (v) Chemistry (vi) Civil Engineering (vii) Commerce and Accountancy (viii) Medical Science (ix) Electrical Engineering (x) Geography (xi) Geology (xii) History (xiii) Law (xiv) Management (xv) Agriculture (xvi) Mechanical Engineering (xvii) Economics (xviii) Philosophy (xix) Physics (xx) Political Science and International Relations (xxi) Psychology (xxii) Public Administration (xxiii) Sociology (xxiv) Statistics (xxv) Zoology (xxv) Literature of any one of the following languages: Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili,Urdu and English. The question papers for the examination will be of conventional (essay) type. Each paper will be of three hours duration. |
