Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) once in the past known as Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical and Technological Sciences appeared on November 15, 1992 as an aftereffect of the assention marked between the Government of Sikkim and the Manipal Pai Foundation, with the point of bestowing model instruction and medicinal services benefits in the condition of Sikkim and nation wide.

It is the principal ever Public Private Partnership in the nation for advanced education and Health Care Services. The University has two grounds: Medical grounds and the Technology grounds. Legislature of Sikkim gives a concede of Rs. 2.25 Crores for every annum for the doctor's facility against which CRH gives free treatment to BPL families and concessional treatment to different inhabitants of the State.
