NET stands for National Eligibility test
SET stands for State eligibility test

These examinations are only for that who are interested to P.hd courses in future or wants to become a Lecturer in some colleges.
If you want to become a researcher then you can apply for these examinations.

Eligibility:

The candidates are required to have score 55% marks in Masters Degree.

The candidates who are in their final year of Masters programme or those whose examinations have been delayed can also apply.

Selection procedure
Selection is based on written test conducted by UGC.

The SET would be conducted only in the following 30 subjects listed below.

The candidates are made-up to appear for only one subject from the list.

Marathi, Hindi, English, Sanskrit, History, Economics, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, PoliticalScience, Defence & strategic Studies, Home Science, Library & Information Science, Journalism and Mass Communication, Social Work, Public Administration, Mathematical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Physics, ChemicalSciences, Life Sciences, Earth Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Geography, Computer Science & Application, Electronic Science, Commerce, Law, Management (including Business Admn. Mgt./Marketing/ Marketing Mgt./Industrial Relations and Personnel Mgt./ Personnel Mgt./Financial Mgt./Co-operative Management), Education&PhysicalEducation
