Indian Police Service is an exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission for recruitment of police officers.
It is a Civil Services exam.
There are 3 rounds:
1. Prelims
2. Mains
3. Interview

Procedure of IPS exam:

1. Fill the form online of Civil Services from official website of UPSC and then send it to the below given address:

2. To take prelims exam. There are 2 papers each of 200 marks.

Paper 1 will be based on following topics:

Current events of national and international importance
History of India and Indian national movement
Indian and World Geography- physical, social, economic geography of India and the world
Indian Polity and governance – constitution, political system, panchayati raj, public policy, Rights issues, etc.
Economic and social development – sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives etc.
General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate change-that do not require subject specialization
General science.

Paper 2 will be based on following topics:

Comprehension
Interpersonal skills including communication skills
Logical reasoning and analytical ability
Decision making and problem solving
General mental ability
Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc. (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. –Class X level)
English language comprehension skills (Class X level)

3. If you clear above stage then you move for Mains. There will be 9 papers each of 300 marks in this portion. You have to select 2 optional subjects and each will have 2 papers.

4. If you qualify Mains then next step is interview. After your performance in interview,
Your result is prepared by including your score in mains and interview(Prelims score is not included). Final list is prepared and if you cross the cut off then you become IPS officer.

Date of commencement of Examination:- 18.12.2015 (FRIDAY)
Duration of the Exam:- 5 DAYS
