The Department of Legal Studies, a legacy Department of the University of Madras was set up in the year 1951. Prof. C. H. Alexandrowicz was the Head of the Department from 1951 to 1961. He began M.L. Degree in International Law and Constitutional Law, the first of its kind in India. Branch of Legal Studies, University of Madras is affirmed by NAAC and UGC. The division offers training in the field of Law. The office offers Masters of Laws in Constitution and Legal Order, International Law and Organization, Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights and M.A. Human Rights and Duties Education (Distant Mode).
