The University of Madras is a public state university in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility (BIF) was established in the University in the year 2006

It provide the financial support of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India under the Biotechnology Information System Network (BTISnet) programme.

Fellowships for short-term projects at the rate of Rs. 5000/- are available every year for about two months based on the Interview.
