Lateral Entry In Anna University Counseling

I have completed Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering and I have applied for the admission in second year of B.TECH Computer Science and Engineering as lateral entry at Anna University. When does the Anna University conducts the Counseling procedure ?

Can you tell me if Anna University offer Lateral Entry B. Tech Program? Also tell me the eligibility requirement for admission in Lateral Entry B. Tech Program?

The Anna University organizes Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) to offer admission into B. Tech & B. Arch courses offered, by university and its affiliated colleges. It has over 571 affiliated colleges, which take part in the common admission process of Anna University for filling seats in B. Tech and B. Arch courses.

No, Anna University does not offer Lateral Entry B. Tech Program. It only offers teh Program in regular mode.


B. Tech Eligibility Criteria

One must have passed Class 12 with three main subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

For admission in Biomedical Engineering course of Anna University, one must have Biology as a major subject in Class 12.

The general category must have 50% in Class 12 in order to seek admission in the B. Tech course offered by Anna University. The qualifying percentage is minimum 50% marks (45% for OBC & 40% for reserved category).

One must be the natives of Tamil Nadu. One must have studied Class 8 – 12 in Tamil Nadu or his/her parents must be the residents or natives of Tamil Nadu.

Students from outside Tamil Nadu can also join Anna University. However, seats may be offered in affiliated private engineering colleges subject to the availability of seats.


Selection Process 2020

The selection of candidates for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) will be based on the marks obtained in the prescribed subjects reduced to 200 (Mathematics – 100, Physics + Chemistry – 100 in the qualifying examination).

TNEA Counselling 2020

Directorate of Technical Education will conduct TNEA counselling 2020 in different rounds.

The counselling process of TNEA will be conducted in online mode. TNEA 2020 counselling will tentatively commence from the first week of July 2020.

One who will be allotted seats in any round of counselling will have to log in to the counselling portal and if they are willing to take admission then pay the required initial fee of Rs. 5000 (SC, ST and SCA candidates need to pay only Rs. 1000).

The choice filling facility of TNEA counselling 2020 will also be held in online mode. One will also be allowed to fill fresh choices after each round of counselling.


TNEA Seat Allotment 2020

The authorities will conduct TNEA 2020 seat allotment in online mode in total 4 rounds.

One will be offered seats on provisional basis, where candidates will be given an opportunity or accept the seat allotted to them.

One who will be allotted seats in the earlier rounds will be given an option to upgrade their allotted seat.
