West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEE Board) conduct the JELET exam for taking admission to lateral entry to 2nd year of study in the four year degree level Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy/Architecture programs in Universities, Government Engineering Colleges and Private self-financed Colleges in West Bengal. Eligibility required for JELET- B.SC or diploma from any recognised university with minimum 60% marks. Age limit is 27 years can apply for JELET. Tentative Important Dates- Availability of application form: June 16, 2014 to June 30, 2014 Last date of submission of application form: July 05, 2014. Date of JELET- Sunday, July 20, 2014 Application Forms- The forms are available directly from designated branches of United Bank of India . Exam pattern- This Exam is Objective Type examination. No. Of questions: 100 Duration: 2hr. 30 min. Negative Marking is Allowed. JELET exam details 3. Candidates have to pay a non-refundable counselling fee of Rs.506/- through the duly filled in echallan at any branch of Allahabad Bank. Candidates are requested to bring the Board’s copy of the echallan with them on the day of Counselling. 4. Eligibility criteria – Diploma holders in Engineering/Technological/Pharmacy have to pass Diploma Examination from an AICTE approved Institution with at least 45% marks considering all semesters/parts in Diploma examination without any back paper(s) (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category). B.Sc. Degree holders have to pass B.Sc. from a UGC recognized University with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) and also have to pass XII standard with Mathematics as a subject. Diploma and B.Sc. Degree holders have to be merit listed in the JELET-2014 conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board to become eligible for admission under Lateral Entry Scheme. 5. Indian Institute of Engg. Science & Technology, Shibpur will not admit any student under lateral entry scheme in the academic session 2014-15. 6. B.Sc. Degree holders are not eligible for admission to Jadavpur University. For admission to Jadavpur University H.S or equivalent examination passed diploma holders shall only be eligible. 7. B.Sc. Degree holders are also not eligible for admission to B. Pharm Course under this scheme. 8. Candidates belonging to B.Sc. stream shall have to clear the subjects of Engineering Graphics Engineering Drawing and Engineering Mechanics of the 1st year Engineering & Technology programme along with the second year Engineering & Technology programme. 9. Candidates belonging to B. Sc. stream shall be considered only after offering the seats for lateral entry to the candidates belonging to the Engg./Tech. Diploma holders. 10. Admission through the lateral entry scheme shall be done for all the existing degree level Engineering/Technological/Pharmacy Colleges of the State under the purview of the Higher Education Department, Govt. of West Bengal with a seat matrix in accordance with G.O.no.376- EDN(T) dated 12th/18th August 2014 . For Jadavpur University the seat matrix will be communicated by the concerned University. 11. Diploma holders in Fashion Technology course of Govt. Polytechnic Institution, Tripura, will be considered for admission to Degree level Apparel Production & Management course and Textile Technology course in Govt. College of Engg. & Textile Technology,Serampore and Berhampur under lateral entry scheme. The domicile criteria for admission to Govt.Engineering & Technology Colleges shall not be applicable in such cases. 12. Reservation of seats for SC/ST/PWD is applicable to candidates of West Bengal only. SC/ST/PWD candidates of other States cannot avail of this facility. 13. For Govt. and Govt. aided Engineering & Technological Colleges the reservation of seats for SC/ST and PWD candidates will be as per Govt. rules. For Universities/University Departments reservation rules for SC/ST and PWD candidates of the concerned University shall be followed. 14. A candidate called for counselling must report at the venue of counselling on the date and time as notified by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board in its website. 15. The candidates ear-marked under any slot of the counselling programme must report at least half an hour before the time stipulated on that slot. The counselling will not be stopped for any particular candidate being absent at the time of reporting. 16. A candidate must appear in person at the counselling venue for allotment of seat. However, if a candidate is unable to appear at the counselling in person owing to valid reasons under exceptional circumstances/medical ground, his/her parents/guardians may appear on his or her behalf with all original testimonials as specified in Sl. No. 21 along with an authorization letter from the candidate with an undertaking that he or she would not claim for any other seat than the one allotted to his or her parents/guardian through authorization. If absent on medical ground, proper medical certificate is to be produced. A Proforma of Authorisation letter can also be downloaded from Board’s website. 17. A candidate failing to appear before the officials at the allotment counter in order of his/her position in the merit list due to delay on his/her part may be allowed to present himself/herself before the counselling officers immediately after the formalities in the reception counter are over. 18. The claim of such candidate (as specified in Sl. No. 17) to exercise option shall be limited to the vacancies available at the instant when his/her turn comes for appearing before the counselling officials. An undertaking to this effect is to be given by the candidate at the time of counselling. 19. A candidate can exercise option only to a single branch of a particular institution of his/her choice where he/she is eligible. The option will have to be exercised in writing with his/her signature at the time of counselling. Once the allotment of a seat is done, no further change of the Institution / branch will be entertained. No refund of money will be allowed under any circumstances. 20. Diploma holder teachers in Govt. Polytechnic Colleges, West Bengal are eligible for admission in the academic session 2014-15 under lateral entry scheme provided they qualify in JELET-2014 and procure requisite permission from respective controlling authorities. 21. At the time of counselling candidates should report with the following documents. Duly filled in counselling form Print out of his / her rank card from Board’s website as mentioned in Sl. No. 2 Board’s copy of the E-Challan (To be retained by the Board) JELET-2014 Admit Card in Original/ Downloaded SC/ST certificates in original (for SC/ST candidates of West Bengal only) issued by the competent authority. Residential Certificate issued by a competent authority as mentioned in the Information Brochure of JELET-2014, if the candidate seeks admission to Government Engineering and Technology Colleges. (Not applicable for candidates vide Sl. No. 11) PWD certificate in Original (for PWD candidates of West Bengal only) issued by the Competent Authority. The PWD candidates claiming seats under reserved category are required to satisfy the following criteria. For admission to BE/B Tech/B.Pharm courses For PWD (loco motor disorder, visual impairment, speech and hearing impairment) category candidate a minimum of 40% disability is required subject to the condition that the candidate is capable of carrying out all activities related to theory and practical works as applicable to BE/B.Tech/B.Pharm courses without any special concession and exemption. All testimonials in original for verification of eligibility and other criteria: Diploma holders (including Pharmacy) (a) Semester wise/part wise/year wise mark sheets of Diploma in Engg./Tech./Pharmacy (b) Mark sheet of H.S. or equivalent examinations (for admission to Jadavpur Universiy) (c) Original/Downloaded Admit Card, Certificate of Madhyamik (10th standard) or equivalent examination or Birth Certificate from competent authority for verification of age. B.Sc degree holders (a) Original mark sheet of B.Sc. examination (b) Original mark sheet of H.S. or equivalent examination (XII standard) (c) Original/Downloaded Admit Card, Certificate of Madhyamik (10th standard) or equivalent examination or Birth Certificate from competent authority for verification of age. (d) For B.Sc. candidates, upper age limit is 27 years as on 31.12.2014. 22. Candidates will be required to take admission to the allotted institution within 5 (five) days from the date of allotment on payment of requisite fees to the respective institution. 23. Besides the eligibility criteria prescribed by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board, a few Institutions prescribe some more eligibility criteria specific to those Institutes. The candidates must note those specific criteria before giving options to those Institutions. 24. Allotment given by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board is entirely provisional and subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria and other conditions specified in the Information Brochure of JELET-2014 at the time of admission. (e.g. all relevant norms and guidelines of D.G. Shipping are to be adhered to for admission to Marine Engineering Degree Course.) 25. Counselling as per the declared schedule shall continue till availability of seats. The counselling of a particular branch of Engineering/Technology will be stopped instantly as soon as all seats in that Branch of Engineering/Technology are filled up. No further queries in this regard will be entertained. 27. Any candidate appearing at the counselling with counterfeit documents/testimonials will be immediately handed over to the police. 28. Any other important information related to the aforesaid counselling (if any) will be immediately communicated through the Board’s website. 29.
