Re: Isro iisu
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is the space agency of the Government of India headquartered in the city of Bengaluru Formed in 1969, ISRO superseded the erstwhile Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR) established in 1962. The establishment of ISRO thus institutionalised space activities in India. It is managed by the Department of Space, which reports to the Prime Minister of The Republic of India. ISRO Inertial Systems Unit (IISU) The ISRO Inertial Systems Unit (IISU) is a research and development unit of the Indian Space Research Organisation located in Thiruvananthapuram that specialises in inertial sensors and systems in satellite technology. Its specialized fields include the fields of launch vehicle inertial systems, spacecraft inertial systems, inertial sensors evaluation and simulation, inertial system production, inertial systems electronic production, reliability and quality assurance and advanced inertial systems group. It is responsible for the design and development of Inertial Systems for Launch Vehicles and Spacecraft programmes of ISRO. Major systems like Inertial Navigation Systems based on mechanical gyros and optical gyros, Attitude Reference Systems, Rate Gyro Packages and Accelerometer Packages are developed indigenously and used in various missions of ISRO. IISU also designs and develops Actuators and Mechanisms for spacecraft and allied applications. IISU is engaged in continuous Research and Development too. The experience and knowledge gained over the years are used for perfecting the present class of sensors and systems and developing new technologies. Further IISU has also initiated advanced technology development programs in niche areas to adapt itself as a Centre of Excellence in Inertial Sensors and Systems. IISU strives to make the systems cost effective, reliable and realisable in tune with global trends. Contact Detail: ISRO Inertial Systems Unit (IISU) Vattiyoorkavu PO Thiruvananthapuram - 695 013 |
