Indian Maritime University in Mumbai opened in 1948-49, the Training Ship Chanakya (successor of T.S.Dufferin & T.S.Rajendra), the Marine Engineering & Research Institute and LBS College of Advanced Maritime Studies & Research were established.

Courses Offered

Post Graduate Diploma in Marine Engineering (PGDME) :
Eligibility (Minimum Criteria)

B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical or Naval Architecture) Degree from AICTE approved college or the I.I.T. with at least 50% marks in final year and at least 50% marks in English in 10th or 12th class.

Age Limit :

Maximum 28 years on date of commencement of training.

Age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 2 years for female candidates

3 year B. Sc. (Maritime Science) degree course (Dual/Polyvalent Certification)

(i) One must have passed (10 + 2) Exam with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English at the time of appearing for counselling.

(ii) One belonging to General & OBC categories must secure minimum 60% marks and SC & ST candidates must secure minimum 55% marks in aggregate in the (10+2) Exam.

Age Limit :
One belonging to General & OBC categories should not be more than 25 years and those belonging to SC & ST categories should not be more than 30 years.

B.Tech. (Marine Engineering)

One must have passed (10 + 2) Exam with Physics, Chemistry, Maths (PCM), with minimum 60% aggregate marks in PCM and with at least of 50% in English language at or 12th Standard exam.

Age Limit :
One belonging to General & OBC categories should not be more than 25 years and those belonging to SC & ST categories should not be more than 30 years.
