IITM Robocon

I recently took admission in Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) and heard a lot about the IITM Robocon want to know more about this. Will you tell me what Robocon is and how it is related to IITM also provide me details is there any student club available in IITM campus?

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) is an autonomous public engineering and research institution located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

About Robocon:

Robocon is the most prestigious robotics competition in the Asia-Pacific Region.

Robocon is about designing intelligent robots to perform a set of pre-defined tasks in a dynamic environment.

IIT Madras started participating in Abu-Robocon in 2004. The first successful attempt was made in the year 2008 followed by a victory at National level in 2009, after which IITM represented India at Tokyo, Japan.

Specializations involved:

Mechanical (3D modelling, Simulation, Designing, Prototyping, Fabrication and Manufacturing)
Electronics (Processors, designing circuits, PCBs, Working with Sensors, Communication)
Coding (Algorithm development, Glimpse of Artificial Intelligence)

List of some awards of IITM Student Club:

Represented IIT Madras and India and finished 15th (1st in India) among 39 teams in the International RoboSub competition conducted by AUVSI, held in San Diego, USA
Winner, National Students Autonomous Vehicle Competition, SAVe 2014
ET Now Power of Shunya Challenge: Top 24 in India
