IIM Calcutta Golden Jubilee Celebrations

Can you tell me in detail about the Golden Jubilee celebrations at IIM (Indian Institute of Management) Calcutta in 2014?

The Golden Jubilee celebrations at IIM (Indian Institute of Management) Calcutta began with a 3 day event from November 14-16, 2010.

The inaugural function was attended by Smt. Purandeshwari, Honorable Minister of State, Human Resource Development, Government of India and His Excellency M.K. Narayanan, Honorable Governor of Bengal.

In the evening, the legendary Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia graced the occasion with his flute recital.

It was followed by a two-day convention on Management Education in India Directors from all the IIMs in India and renowned B-Schools in India and the world, some noted academicians and industry leaders, and IIM Calcutta professors and alumni, deliberated on significant issues and challenges facing the management schools in India and the way ahead.

On 3rd day the faculty, staff, alumni, and students of IIMC talk about about the Institute in a session on“IIMC@50: The Past, Present and Future”. This was followed by planting of saplings by different stakeholders.

The 3 day event came to a close with the honoring of retired faculty members, former directors, and current faculty and staff that have served the best years in the Institute and contributed significantly to building IIM Calcutta into an iconic institution in management education.
