Food Corporation of India was established on 14 January 1965 having its first District Office at Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. It headquarters at Chennai under the Food Corporations Act 1964.

It is one of the largest corporations in India and probably the largest supply chain management in Asia

It operates through 5 Zonal offices and 24 Regional offices.

FCI Rules and Regulations

The Food Corporations Rules, 1965 -

The rules prescribe the term of office and the system of remuneration in respect of Chairman, Managing Director, other Directors and Secretary, FCI

The Food Corporations Regulations, 1965 -

Regulates the manner of function of the Board of directors, Executive Committee and other Committee of FCI

The Food Corporations Act, 1964 -

The Act provides for establishment of Food Corporations for the purpose of trading in foodgrains and other foodstuffs and matters connected therewith and incidental thereto.

FCI (Staff) Regulations, 1971

Regulates the service conditions of all the regular employee of the FCI

Food Corporation of India Regulations, 2000

The regulation authorises specified officers in FCI for verification of pleadings, and other documents to be filed before various Courts, Tribunals, Authorities and Arbitrators.
