Eprints IITM

I am doing Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology , Madras (IITM) and I heard that Eprints server has been installed to host all the Ph.D. theses . Is it right ? What is the working of this server ? I want more information about it . Would you please provide me a link where I can get more information about it ?
