The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee invites application form for admission to full time/part time PhD Programs for Autumn Semester of the Session 2018-19 in all departments/centres at the institute

PhD Programs-

IIT Roorkee offers PhD in the following disciplines:

Departments - Alternate Hydro-Energy Centre /Architecture & Planning/ Biotechnology /Chemical Engineering/Chemistry /Civil Engineering/Computer Science & Engineering /Earthquake Engineering/Earth Sciences/Electrical Eng /Electronics & Communication Eng/Humanities & Social Sciences /Hydrology /Mgt. Studies /Mathematics /Mechanical & Industrial Engineering/Metallurgical & Materials Engineering/Physics // Nanotechnology /Water Resources Development & Management /Disaster Mitigation /Transportation Systems

Saharanpur Campus:
Applied Science & Engineering/ Paper Technology / Polymer and Process Engineering

PhD Eligibility

Masters degree in respective discipline or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale or equivalent as determined by the Institute wherever letter grade are awarded or 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) where marks are awarded for the General (UR) category and qualified national level graduate entrance test: GATE/UGC-NET/CSIR-NET or equivalent

B. Tech/B. Arch degree or equivalent in respective discipline from CFTIs with excellent academic record (with a minimum CGPA of 7.0 on a 10-point scale or equivalent or 75% marks)

Candidates pursuing masters program in engineering or Architecture from IIT Roorkee having CGPA of at least 7.50 shall have a choice of internal lateral entry into PhD program after completing all requirements of the first two semesters of the I (First) year of the Masters program

For Part-time:

The applicant possesses the minimum entry qualifications for the degree as given in admission eligibility point 1; the applicant proves that his official duties permit him to devote sufficient time to research; he/she will be required to reside at the Institute for a period of not less than 6 months during his/her registration for the degree. Such applicants are exempted from the requirement of having valid GATE/NET/GPAT

The applicants must have been in continuous service with the sponsoring organization for at least two years at the time of submitting the application form for admission

Selection will be made on the basis of their performance in the written test and interview.
