The PGIMER Chandigarh has a one of th best department is Department Of Psychiatry. The Department of Psychiatry was established on 16th September 1963.

In 1988 the Department expanded with the establishment of the Drug De-addiction and Treatment Centre (DDTC) which is a centrally funded regional resource centre.

The Department has a sanctioned Faculty of 22; 15 for Psychiatry, 6 for Clinical Psychology and 1 for Psychiatric Social Work.
