I have knowledge about the University of Calicut Department of Nanoscience and Technology eligibility and Admission Procedure. So here I am telling you about it as you want.


Major Objectives


Generate high quality skilled work force to meet the growing need of qualified experts to work in the area of Nanoscience &Technology

Start new academic program under School of chemical and physical sciences to promote interdisciplinary research and studies.

Generate sufficient physical infrastructure & strengthen the research facilities in the department to uplift the quality of research.



Current Academic Programs

1. M.Tech Programme

2. PhD Programe


M.Tech Nanoscience and Technology:

A regular 4 semesters,
2 year program with an intake of 10 numbers

Eligibility for Admission:
M.Sc. in
Nanoscience & Technology /
Physics /
Applied Physics /
Materials Science/
Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Polymer Chemistry.


A Minimum of 55% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination is essential for the eligibility for admission to this course.

Admission Procedure:
Admission to this course will be based on the marks secured in an entrance examination conducted by the University among the eligible candidates.

 Research Degree (PhD):

The Department offers PhD program in Nanoscience & Technology in the areas of alternative energy sources, sustainable nanomaterials and carbon nanomaterials.

Eligibility for Admission:

Being an Interdisciplinary area, student with M.Sc Chemistry or equivalent degree, M.Sc Physics or equivalent degree, M.Sc Materials Science, M.Sc /M.Tech in Nanoscience and Technology are permitted to register for PhD program in this Department.
